Nicki Minaj Talks Childhood Abuse, Denies Being Bisexual

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Nicki explains how her childhood motivated her, and why you won't catch her "with a bad bitch that came from Sri Lanka" any time soon.
According to Hits Daily Double, Nicki Minaj is on track to sell about 120,000 copies of her debut album, Pink Friday during its first week of release. When Brian Hiatt asked Hip Hop’s Barbie the source of her ambition during aRolling Stone interview, Nicki offered a detailed account of some childhood experiences that drove her to strive for a better life via entertainment.

“When I first came to America, I would go in my room and kneel down at the foot of my bed and pray that God would make me rich so I could take care of my mother,” Nicki said. “Because I always felt like if I took care of my mother, my mother wouldn’t have to stay with my father, and he was the one, at that time, that was bringing us pain.”

Nicki has previously addressed the issue on the aptly named
Pink Friday song, “Autobiography.” And during the course of her interview, Nicki also addressed another issue that seems to pop up rather often in her music. Despite comments to the contrary in Complex magazine, and her simulated kiss of another woman in Usher’s “Lil Freak” video, Nicki says she is neither bisexual or a lesbian.

“I think girls are sexy, but I’m not gonna lie and say I date girls,” she added.

The full Nicki Minaj profile, including why Nicki toned down her once overtly sexual lyrics, and a breakdown of her writing style, is available in the December issue of
Rolling Stone.
